That was a funny Zorn story BD,Lou Reed played a three night run at the Knitting Factory and then later on a one night two show deal and I saw Zorn in the crowd at one of those5.I tried to catch Lester whenever he played, and my memory is a little shaky as far as his Knitting Factory history, but if you saw him there a handful of times the odds are that I was at a show with you.In relation to Vernon Reid he should be lauded for the creation and continued patronage of the Black Rock Coalition,an organization dedicated to putting black musicians in the rock realm in the public eye, each year they do a few tribute shows to black musicians, off the top of my head I remember seeing tributes to Curtis Mayfield,Sly Stone,Motown,P-Funk,Art Ensemble of Chicago,Nina Simone and they do a Hendrix one every year for many years running. It is probably anywhere from 50-100 people from different bands in BRC performing together in various combinations. It is always a well done, raucous affair and Vernon has performed at a number of them. He is a real fine player and does a lot of different kinds of music with a wide array of people, and usually very successfully.
